Nevermore

Once upon a midnight dreary, the poem broke its cage.

Nevermore is a gothic ASCII game where language itself becomes fate. Letters rain like blood from a shattered stanza, and every character you collect rewrites the nightmare. 

Following a heavy night of drinking absinthe in Baltimore Professor Toby Bell loses his collegue Professor Lenora Blackwood inside Edgar Allan Poe’s The Raven. Toby must navigate shifting lines of verse, harvesting the letters of N E V E R M O R E and fragments of the poem to reach his colleague (professor Lenora Blackwood)—or be sealed into the refrain forever.

Up - Q

Down - A

Left -N

Right - M

Tips: Letter change when they make contact with either the top or bottom of the screen. Some interact with each other, some don't. The middle of the screen is safer, but it's potentially harder to hit the required letters. You only have one life, so use it wisely.  

Note: I wrote this game in boriel basic (it was a lot of fun!). There's only three levels - but I might revisit the game or the concept sometime.
